WALRUS 808 · Pup → Walrus Boss
A round 808 grows into the Walrus Boss: pitch punch, glide and a growl that stays in the tail.
NORTHFX / PET INSTRUMENTS
MENAGERIE
Every pet is an instrument.
The pets of KELVIN, the penguin of NORTHFX Studio, each have a sound. MENAGERIE puts all of them in one instrument: a walrus that is an 808, a fox that is a pad, a panther that taps a handpan. 55 instruments, each growing as its pet evolves.
55 instruments
From the free collection and all 25 of PRISM ORIGINS.
They evolve
Every stage of a pet adds layers and character.
Shiny forms
ICE: glassy resonators and a crackle on every hit.

MENAGERIE / THE EVOLUTION
Hear them grow.
Rendered with MENAGERIE 1.1. Each pair is the same phrase played by the first and the last stage of one pet. Switch while it plays.
AURORA PAD · Kit → Aurora Fox
A wide supersaw pad whose tail is the reverb. The Aurora Fox adds a second layer and a shimmer.
PRISMA · Prisma → Prismarion
A handpan tapped by a paw. Prismarion rings an octave above and blooms in the grotto. From PRISM ORIGINS.
TAIKO · Taiko → Taikodon
Tuned deep drums, every key its own drum. Taikodon adds a boom under every hit and a rim knock. From PRISM ORIGINS.
Every pet line, one sound.
808s and reese basses, electric pianos, plucks, bells and mallets, supersaw pads, lofi guitar, house chords, power leads, acid, choirs, drill keys and fuzz bass, plus the forge hybrids and the twelve Plugin Legends.
PRISM ORIGINS, included.
The 25 instruments of the pets' premium pack are part of MENAGERIE: taiko and hand drums, rim and wood percussion, tuned gongs, handpan, glass harp, kalimba, harp, koto, cello, oud, analog bass, flute, breath horns, sung vowels and the five guardians.
They grow.
Every evolution stage adds layers and character: the Pup's round 808 becomes the Seal's punchier one and then the Walrus Boss with its growl. Every pet, stage and shiny form plays at a matched level.
Four macros per pet.
Each pet has four character macros named for it: SIZE, GROWL, PUNCH and SUB on the walrus, RESONANCE, TOUCH, GLOW and CAVE on the panther. They orbit the pet as rings.
Shiny.
The shiny form adds ICE: glassy resonators ringing on the sound's own harmonics, and a crackle of ice on every hit.
Play it.
Tone, Attack, Release, Drive, Glide, Velocity, Width, voicing (pet, poly, mono, legato) and octave, an echo and an arpeggiator in time with your song, space, and over 200 factory presets.
THE INTERFACE
The pet in its portal.
The pet plays in a round portal on its own world. Its four macros orbit it as rings, and a crown of light around them is the live spectrum of the sound. The pets are in a list on the left, ALL PETS shows them on two pages.
Already in NORTHFX Studio.
NORTHFX Studio, the free DAW, has the Pet Instrument: the first form of every pet you catch plays there for free, and with the PRISM ORIGINS pack every form of its pets. MENAGERIE is the full instrument for every DAW, with every stage, every shiny and all controls. NORTHFX Studio ↗

MENAGERIE / FAQ
Questions, answered.
What are pet instruments?
KELVIN's pets are the creatures you collect in NORTHFX Studio. Each pet line plays its own kind of sound, and MENAGERIE turns all of them into one VST3 instrument for any DAW.
Do I need NORTHFX Studio or the pets to use MENAGERIE?
No. MENAGERIE is a standalone VST3 instrument and plays all 55 instruments in any DAW, whether you have caught the pets or not.
Is PRISM ORIGINS included?
Yes. The 25 instruments of PRISM ORIGINS are part of MENAGERIE 1.1. The pack itself is for NORTHFX Studio, where it adds the creatures, regions and battles to KELVIN's pets.
Can I play drums with it?
Yes. TAIKO, BONGO, RIMZI, KLIKKA and BOMBARA are tuned drums: every key plays its own drum, so you can play them like a kit or tune them to the song.
Which DAWs does MENAGERIE work in?
Any VST3 host on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), for example FL Studio, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Bitwig and NORTHFX Studio.
Can I try MENAGERIE before I buy?
Yes. MENAGERIE runs as the full version for 14 days. After buying, activate it with your licence key; one licence covers one person on up to two computers.
